Web Site Questions
Why should I have a website ?
Having your own website has the potential to be your most cost effective promotional tool! You will be in reach of over 100 million potential customers on the Internet, and you site is available 24 hours a day. There may be some initial outlay but this can be as little as £200, after this the running costs can be as little as £4 a month. Where else can you have an advert for your site or a 24*7 shop for as little as £4 a month. Commission a website now before the competition gets a hold.
What do I have to contribute to my website ?
For small single page websites a company logo, description and contact details are all that you have to provide. For more complex websites you may supply us with as much company information or content as you wish and we will in consultation with yourselves use what is appropriate.
How long does it take to develop a website ?
Development of a 1 page web site usually takes approximately a couple of days from the time of agreement of the design. A 5-25 page site will take approximately a week. However, larger sites and more complex sites can take longer. The faster you can provide content and the more content that is in electronic format the faster the procedure.
Can I update my website content frequently ?
In reality a website is never finished and can take years to mature, just as your company grows and expands so will your website. Out design packages all minor updates to be schedules at regular intervals. Further updates can he paid for on a one off basis. If you have content that is highly volatile such as 'Menu of the Day' content, then we can design the site to allow you to enter the new content via your browser in an easy to handle format. Such design is part of the bespoke packages but can be added to any package at a nominal charge.
How do I get on-line or receive email ?
We provided hosting only - that is we provide the storage space for your website so that it can be 'seen' by the internet community. We do not provide dial-up access to your hosting account or email account. You must connect to the Internet via an ISP such as Freeserve, AOL or BT Internet. If you opt for a POP3 email account then you need to have an email client capable of receiving such as Microsoft Outlook. Alternatively you can opt to have your email redirected to another address such as a free web based Hotmail address.

What happens if I wish to expand my website ?
When initially developing your website if you wish to go over the limit for the selected package then you will be quoted for the extra, alternatively we may suggest you move to the next package. If you wish to expand your website at a later date we can quote you for the new content addition under the maintenance rates or you can purchase another fixed package which we can combine with your existing website.
Will my website be registered with search engines ?
All website packages include initial registration to the top 10 search engines upon completion. You can pay to have your site submitted to more search engines or specialist directories on a regular basis if required. We can offer no guarantees regarding to your position on the search engines. Some search engines will allow you to pay them to achieve a more prominent position but usually you have to earn your ranking by achieving popularity though number of site visitors etc. Some search engines have a big backlog and may take months to catalogue and list your site - we have no control over this and can only request that you be patient.

Domain Registration Questions
Do I need my own domain name ?
Having your own domain name is not essential but can make your company look more professional. Of course you don't need to be a company to register a domain name, many individuals are registering their family names as domains etc.
Is it expensive to register a domain ?
Registering a domain isn't expensive, you can register one for as little as £15 per year. The most popular names are now already registered. Register yours now before someone else does.
How long does it take to register a domain name ?
We will aim to register your domain name, providing it is still available, within 24 hours. Domain registry databases can take between 24-48 hours to be updated so even though your domain has been registered it may still show up on WHOIS or "domain checkers" as being available. Global domain names tend to take the longest to show up as being registered due to a new shared registry system.
What happens to my domain after the initial 2 year period ?
Prior to the expiry of your initial 2 year registration period you will be sent a renewal invoice which will give you information on how to renew your domain for a further 2 years. You do not have to worry about "losing" your domain name as providing you pay the relevant renewal charges your domain will be yours for as long as you require. Currently the renewal prices are the same as the current purchase price for the appropriate domain.
Will I get a certificate proving my domain has been registered ?
With UK domain names you should receive a certificate from Nominet (the official UK naming body) eventually although they are currently running at a 6 month backlog. There are no certificates for Global domain names. If you require proof of ownership simply perform a search on your domain then click the WHOIS button which will give the ownership details of your domain.
Are there any restrictions when registering a domain name ?
Yes, the following rules apply to all domain names (.co.uk/.org.uk/.com/.net/.org/.info/.biz) Domain names must be between 3 and 63 characters in length. Please note although 2 letter domains such as www.go.co.uk cannot be registered even though they show up as being available. They can only contain alphabet and numeric characters and the minus '-' character. No spaces are allowed at any point and you cannot start or end a domain with a '-'.
Can I transfer my domain to another provider ?
The domain is yours to do with as you please. You can ask us to transfer your domain but there may be a charge for such transferrals. This charge allows us to keep the initial domain prices low - we are rewarding people for loyalty.
Can I transfer my domain to yourselves ?
If you have an existing domain which you wish to use with our hosting we can arrange for it to be transferred to us or arrange for it to be redirected to your new web site from its existing provider. How do I change the registered owner/details of a domain name?
How do I change the registered details on my domain ?
If it is a Nominet domain (.co.uk/.org.uk) you need to fax Nominet on 01865 332299. The fax needs to be from the legal owner on their letterhead and have full address details. You must clearly state the legal owner's name and the name/address that you want to change to. If you want to call Nominet to confirm that they have received the fax their telephone number is 01865 332211.
If it is a global domain (.com/.net/.org/.info/.biz) you must send us a fax on 07092193533 which needs to be from the legal owner and have their address details and domain name on it. You need to clearly state the new legal owners name, address that you want to transfer to.
